    Notes:

In 1708, he moved to Monmouth Co.,NJ, near the Atlantic. A number of Dutch from New York went to the area at this time, including Hendrick Beekman who may have been his father-in-law. During the 1730's he moved inland to Hunterdon Co.,NJ. He remained there until he died.(Bill Putman, 1994)

It seems that David Putman of Potterstown, New Jersey, had a son named John Davidse Putman, who had a daughter Elizabeth, I believe, that married Samuel Swayze, II, of Lebanon, New Jersey, which is just west of Potterstown. It seems the Swayzes ived in the area of Hensfoot, New Jersey, prior to moving to Mississsipi. The New Jersey Putman seems to have been mill wrights or people who worked in the lumber woods at least during the winter months. The Swayzes of New Jersey, Swayze's Mills, were millwrights.
    Thanks, Mark.

David married Elizabeth Beekman. Elizabeth was born about 1690 in New York, USA; died in in Hunterdon Co., New Jersey, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  2. 17.  Elizabeth Beekman was born about 1690 in New York, USA; died in in Hunterdon Co., New Jersey, USA.

    Notes:

From an old deed of the Auten family, and according to Fred Sisser,
genealogist of New Jersey, David Putman, or Potman, married a girl by
the name of Helena. The name Lena, which is short for Helena, is used
by descendants of David Potman, [the Traphegan's] but the name
Elizabeth is not used, which further suggests that David married a
Helena. I have guessed that Helena was a Van Gelder, but that is just
a guess. David may have married twice.
From the naming of the Traphegan family, it seems also that Helena's
father was a Abraham, or perhaps, Evert or Ephraim [Van Gelder]. The
name Martin was not used by the descendants of David Potman, while
Helena, or Lena, and Abraham were used by his descendants.
David Potman witness the baptism of Evert Tiis in Middletown, New
Jersey. I think perhaps David was an uncle of the child by his wife,
Helena, whose father may have been an Abraham, Evert, or Ephraim.
    Thanks, Mark.
