    Notes
    • Abram came to Richland township, Oegmaw County, Michigan in 1869 with his two younger brothers(Naplolean and David) and a team of oxen and stoneboat(a type of drag). They were very early settlers of Richland township, in the Prescott,Michigan area. Abram married and opened a store at Maple Ridge, which was stocked well with dry goods, boots, shoes, crockery, furniture and there he had a prosperous business.

Abram Scott has finished his commodions hotel. Deep River is making plans for its annual Maple Sugar Festival. Saganing is planning a big celebration for July 4, 1886...racing and many other events. Abram Scott, merchant, was born in New York in 1842. He served in the United States Army from 1862 until he was disabled in 1863. He came to Richland Twp in Ogemaw Co. He married and then moved to Maple Ridge and operated a well furnished store of dry goods, boots and shoes, crockery and furniture and had a prosperous business. Maple Ridge got its name from the many acres of maple timber around it. "The Ridge" was settled in 1865. The southeast corner was settled by the McMillans and the families still have the place of 160 acres. The other three corners were settled by William and Stillwell Smith who homesteaded the land in 1869. The land on the southwest corner was sold to Abe Scott and I heard his brother, David, say that he cut the first tree on the corner of the place where Maple Ridge is now. That corner is now owned by Joe Janski. Abe Scott built a store and a boarding house on his corner and in 1887 he built a cheese factory.
