- John graduated Dansville High School and worked for Foster Wheeler in
Dansville. He was Justice of the Peace in 1983 for North Dansville.

DANSVILLE -- John J. Weidman, 80, of Valley View Court, passed away
Saturday (Dec. 14, 2002) at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville,
after an extended illness.
He was born in the Town of Ossian on April 24, 1922, a son of the late
Ray and Addie Linzy Weidman. On July 29, 1945, he became the devoted
husband of Arlene Rose Weidman, Arlene predeceased John on Oct. 23,
2001. He is also predeceased by his siblings, Ruby Purdy, Hugh and
Neal Weidman.
John was a retiree of Foster Wheeler Energy Corp. in Dansville, where
he had worked as a welder for over 25 years. He was a well respected
judge, serving as North Dansville Town Justice and Village of
Dansville Justice for several terms.
He was a member of the Dansville Presbyterian Church, the New York
State Magistrates Assoc. and was a vice president of the Livingston
County Magistrates Assoc. He was a member of the Twenty Five Year Club
at Foster Wheeler and the IAM #1665, where he served as the vice
president. John was a member of the Town of North Dansville and the
Livingston County Republican Committees. John was a former Livingston
County Deputy Sheriff, Livingston County Dog Warden, a member of the
Livingston County Traffic Safety Board, and the Livingston County
Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse. He enjoyed spending time
camping and fishing with Arlene and his family.
John is survived by three sons, Douglas (Kathy) Weidman of Swain,
David (Cheryle) Weidman of Marietta, Ga., Michael (Andrea) Weidman of
Troy, Mich.; two daughters, Gail Weidman of Dansville and Karen
Weidman of Mt. Morris; seven grandchildren, Sean Weidman, Heather
(Ian) Knight, both of Woodstock, Ga., Autumn Weidman of New York City,
Chelsea, Rachel and Grant B. Weidman of Troy, Mich., and Bridi (Bob)
Kubiak of Hornell; three brothers, Mark (Johanne) Weidman, Reid (Fran)
Weidman, both of Dansville, and Lynn (Marilyn) Weidman of Swain; three
sisters, Lucy (Alton) Isaman, Fern Weidman, both of Dansville, and
Mary (Gil) Womack of North Carolina; many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hindle
Funeral Home, 271 Main St., Dansville. Funeral services will be
Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Dansville Presbyterian Church. Interment
will be next to Arlene in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville.
