    Notes 
    • Jonathan came to the colonies in 1630. By 1633 he had returned to England and married Mary. There is a 1599 Geneva edition family Bible in Windsor brought to New England by Jonathan which contains the following record. "My father Gille(tt) came into new-inglan the secon time in June in the yeare 1634, and Jonathan his sonne was born about half a year aftur he cam to land." Jonathan was made a freeman of Massachusetts Bay 6 May 1635. He moved to Windsor CT the summer of 1639 and was granted a lot there of 4 acres. He was a constable of the settlement on 16 Feb 1665. He served on the County Court Jury for 17 years beginning about 1660. When he died his estate was worth #273 plus. Source: Joseph Gillet - Gillett - Gillette Family, Wilma Gillet Thomas - Det Lib. Jonathan arrived in MA in 1630, then returned to England to marry Mary Dolbere returning to Dorchester, MA with her in 1634. Windsor History 1 Jan 1640 - Jonathan was "granted a homelott of four acres bouded by Nathan Gillet, west; the millbrooke south; and the rivulett, north, also three acres halfe bounded by Nathan Gillet west and Richard Vore east; also the upper end of Phelps' meadow; twenty-two acres bounded by Nathan Gillet south; also five acres west according to the running of the water of the swamp; also over the river sixteen rods wide and 2 1/2 miles long; also thirty acres bounded north and south by the Common". Jonathan was on the Jury County Court 12 Jan 1653. Served seventeen years from 1653 to 1671. 16 Feb 1655 - Constable for ye nixt year. 1 May 1655 sworn in as constable for Wyndsor.       Jonathan and Nathan were the sons of Rev William Gillett, rector of Chaffoombe, Somerset, Eng, who died in 1641. Jonathan Gillett came to America with his brother in 1630, but returned to England to marry, March 29, 1634, at Coylton, Devon, Mary Dolbere, who was born 7 Jun 1607 and died 5 Jan 1685, daughter of Rawkey and Mary (Mitchell) Dolbere. Mary Dolbere is thought to have been a relative of Rev. Warham. Jonatha was made a freeman in 1635, moved to Windsor in 1639, and died there 23 Aug 1677.       Will dated 8 Aug 1677 written 15 days before he died: The last Will and Testament of Jonathan Gillet Sr. of Windsor - i, Jonathan Gillet Sr. of Windsor, CT in the County of Hartford, being at present very ill and in distemper of body above ordinary, not knowing the Lord's will and pleasure whether He may take me out of this world at present, doe think meet to make this, my last will: 1. My will is that my wife shall be sole executrix, and my son Josiah shall take cate of the improvement of his mother's estate for her use and benefit made up of the housing and lands of both my houselots, my one and that which is my brother Nathan's which are both 9 acres. I set out 3 acres to my son John; also set out 2 acres adjoining to Josiah's six acres. She shall have use of 6 acres, also 20 acres of my woodland, also my moveables as cattell of all sorts except two steers which Josiah is to have; and all my household goods to my wife to use and dispose of after my decease.
      2. Josiah shall take care of his mother, and be of help and ayde, and after her death he shall have for himself my now dwelling house and all the appurtenances to it with 5 acres of household and all other parcels of land as are supposed to be his mother's for her use while he lives. Only excepting the house and 4 acres of ye house land to which my son Jeremy shall posses for his own after my wife's decease, ye six acres and ye two meadow I set out to him at present. 3.
