- MANCHESTER: Harold M. Sleght, age 84, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003 at Clifton Springs Hospital.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 30, at 2 p.m. at the Phelps American Legion Post #0457 on East Main Street, Phelps. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shortsville Ambulance, 2 Sheldon St., Shortsville, NY 14548.
Mr. Sleght was born in Rochester, the son of the late Theodore and Dorothea (O'Connor) Sleght. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. On Nov. 8, 1944, he married Olive J. Cripps in Gorham. He was a carpenter, who retired in 1982 from GWF Homes in Canandaigua. Mr. Sleght enjoyed reading and traveling. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local Union #506; the Phelps American Legion #0457; and a former member of the Canandaigua Elks Club.
Mr. Sleght is survived by his wife, Olive C. Sleght of Manchester; two daughters, Joan (Louis) Solomon of Hamburg, N.Y. and Sharon (John) McKinney of Manchester; three grandchildren, Louis (Karen) Solomon of Eden, N.Y., J. Wesley McKinney of Manchester, and Jason (Kristie Credit) McKinney of Canandaigua; one great-granddaughter, Allyson Solomon; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are by the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham.
