Stephens, after an illness of several years. She was a patient sufferer always greeting her friends with a smile and pleasant word. Her home was always noted for its hospitality. No one ever asked aid of her and went away disappointed. She was the daughter of Robert and Cynthia Robinson of Ossian, N. Y., and was born, March 24, 1834. In early life she joined the Park M. E. church at Hornell and became a member of the choir which position she filled for many years. She was a grand daughter of Silas Seward of Deposit, a fifer in the Revolutionary war. On July 4, 1854, she was united in marriage to Delavan Stephens, youngest son of Colonel John II. Stephens of Hornell one of the oldest settlers of the Canisteo valley. She became the mother of seven children, three of which survive her, John Robinson Jr., of Arkport, Mrs. Eva L. Stephens and Mrs. Etta Stephens of Canisteo. The father and husband died April 11, 1884.
In 1890, September 20, she married Wesson Allen of South Dansville, who died in 1893. She then returned to the old homestead on the Arkport road where she resided until the death of her son, Marshall. She leaves two brothers, Capt. Silas W. Robinson of Bradford and Henry Robinson of Alfred. The services were held in Presbyterian church a t Canisteo, Rev. B. VanFleet Putnam officiating Burial in the family plot at Arkport. Those from out of town who attended were: £apt. S. W. Robinson, Bradford; J. R. Stephens and family, G. V. Mayo, Arkport; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Robinson, Mr. and Mrs, Noble Robinson, Mrs. E. Sims, Mrs. Mary Angle, Mrs. C. D. Emery, Mr and Mrs. W. B. Goff, Adalbert Ferry, Mrs, R. Morris, Hornell.
