  Notes	Mr. Charles Whiteman, born about 1873, was the son of Samuel and Minerva Carney Whiteman who lived on Clover Hill in the Town of Wayland. He was married twice, first to Clara E. Merriman (also Mariman) and second to Millie E. Closser. He died in April 1950 from a heart attack suffered while he was unloading wood, the cutting and delivery of firewood being his occupation after his retirement from farming. He left eight children, a brother Fred Whiteman of Pickford, Michigan, and several grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Carney Hollow church with burial in Pleasant View (sic) cemetery, Carney Hollow. (Wayland Register, April 6, 1950)
