Kreiley, 81, of Logan Rd. in Sparta died unexpectedly Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000 at Noyes Memorial Hospital where he was taken after being stricken on the family farm in Sparta. He was born Sept. 10, 1918 in Sparta, the son of the late C. Harry and Katie (Kidd) Kreiley. He was married Aug. 27, 1955 to Ruth B. (Burr) Kreiley to whom he was married for 45 years. Howard was a self-employed farmer, owning and operating the Kreiley Farm in Sparta. He was a lifelong member of the Sparta Center United Methodist Church, a charter member and past officer of the Sparta Center Volunteer Fire Dept., the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1130 in Dansville and the Livingston County Farm Bureau. He served as a councilman on the Sparta Town Board from 1984 through 1991, and was the 1998 Sparta Senior Citizen of the Year. Howard had a lifelong passion for farming. Howard was predeceased by three sisters, Alice M. Thompson, Catherine D. Banes and Louise Osborn. Besides his wife Ruth, he is survived by two sons, Herm (Pat) Kreiley of Dansville and Gary (Shirley) Kreiley of Sparta; two daughters, Sandy (Joe) Huette and Shelley (Bob) Bunnell, both of Sparta; one brother, George (Bernice) Kreiley of Sparta; one sister, Ruth Hamsher of Englewood, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Debbie (Jerry) Howe of S. Dansville, Pam (Bob) LaForce, Jr. of Dansville, Kellie (Craig) Schuster, Chris Kreiley (Laura Hart), Craig June and Brandi June, all of Sparta, Chad Kreiley of Dansville, Jeff (Molly) Kreiley of Geneseo and Greg (Sue) Kreiley of Almond; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends called Monday, 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Chamberlin Funeral Home, Inc., 73 Main St., Dansville where funeral services were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jamie Stevens officiating. Burial was in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville.
