- Carl W. Flickncr, 81, of Dansville died Monday, February 24, 1997 at
Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester after a long illness.
Mr. Flickncr was born Sept. 8, 1915 in Arkport, a son of William and
Flora (Wildey) Flickner. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in
WW II from 1941 to 1945. He married Betty Louise Isaman on September
13, 1950 in Pennsylvania.
He was a Finish Grader Operator for the W.L. Collins Construction Co.
in Hornell from 1950 to his retirement in 1977.
Carl was a member of the Daniel Goho American Legion Post #87 and the
Frank J. Casbolt V.F.W. Post #6780, both of Dansville; the Local #832
Construction Union in Rochester; and St. Peter's United Church of
Christ in Perkinsville.
He was predeceased by his sisters and brother, Rhea Kimbel, Mabel
Burger, Bessie Glover and Daniel Flickner.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Betty; two daughters, Karen
(Tom) Snowman of Cohocton and Shirley (Dennis) Rawleigh of Canaseraga;
one son, Harold Flickner of Dansville; eight grandchildren and one
great-granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends called from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the Walter
E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 100 E. Naples St., Wayland, where a
military memorial service was held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be
held at 2:30 p.m. today (Thursday) at the funeral home with Rev.
Robert Brandenstein officiating. Burial with full military honors will
be held at Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville.
Contributions may be made to the Dansville Ambulance Corps or to St.
Peter's United Church of Christ in memory of Carl W. Flickner. (GCE,
