    Notes 
    • Milton served three years in the U.S. Army during WWII, including a year as a Staff Sgt. in the Phillipines. In Alabama he was issued a pair of suntan pants with James W. Burdett's name and serial number printed inside. Milton graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1949. and was employed by Corning Inc. for 35 years as a Senior Process Project Systems Control Design and Installation Engineer. He has always been very generous with his time to help his mother-in-law, Beatrice Smith.

      "Painted Post | Milton C. Alderman, age 79, of Pioneer Road, Painted Post, NY, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2004, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Milton was born in Corning, NY, October 19, 1924, son of Charles and Ethel Abbott Alderman. Milton served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and was a graduate of RIT.
      Milton grew up across the street from Marian Smith, and made her his wife, October 17, 1944, they would have celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary next month. Milton was an engineer in the main plant with Corning Glass and received his 50 year service pin in 2000.
      His memberships included the Painted Post United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir, the Indian Hills Golf Club, the Barber Shoppers, the Thursday A.M. Breakfast Club at the Central Restaurant, and in the past was in the Masons, and bowled in two mixed leagues at the Corning Bowl with his wife, Marian.
      Surviving Milton are his loving wife, Marian Alderman, of Painted Post, daughters, Judith Phelps of Endicott, NY, Cheryl N. (Jim) Grace, of Painted Post, Janice B. Montgomery, of Elmira; a brother, Roger Alderman, of Corning; grandchildren: Jenniffer Yentzer, Kelly Newton, both of Painted Post, Stacy Glasl, of Erie, PA, and Greg Phelps, of Arlington, VA; six great grandchildren; along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.
      Friends are invited to call Carpenters Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 14 from 7 to 9 P.M. There will be a visitation in the Painted Post United Methodist Church on Wednesday, September 15, from 1 to 2 P.M., followed by the Funeral Service (2 P.M.) with Rev. Richard Hubbard and Rev. Gary McCaslin officiating. The Committal Service will follow with Military Honors in Fairview Cemetery, Painted Post, NY."
