    • Harry C. Applin, 94, of West Liberty St., Dansville died Thursday,
      Dec. 9, 1999 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville after a brief
      illness. He was predeceased by his wives Ruth Wells Applin and
      Marguerite Driscoll Applin.
      Prior to his retirement in 1973, Mr. Applin had been a U.S. Postal
      clerk and carrier for over 31 years. Harry was a WWII Army veteran and
      the oldest and a life member of Daniel Goho Post 87, The American
      Legion of Dansville, where he had served as commander in 1946-47. He
      also was a member of the Livingston County 40&8, a life member and
      past president of the Protectives Hose Company in Dansville and the
      oldest member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Harry was liked by all
      and will be forever remembered as a gentleman's gentleman.
      He is survived by special nieces Norma (Harold) Gibson of Honeoye,
      Doris (Robert) Conway of Dansville and Frances Farrell of Lakeville;
      special nephews Richard (Arlene) Applin of Dansville and Richard
      (Janice) Furst of Lexington, Kentucky; step-children Mary Kate
      Driscoll of Rochester, Ann (John) Byrne of Rochester and Edward
      (Chris) Driscoll of Chili; four step-children; and many nieces,
      nephews and very dear friends.
      Friends called Friday 7-9 and Saturday (2 until 5 p.m.) at the
      Chamberlin Funeral Home, Inc., 73 Main St., Dansville where a
      Protectives prayer service was held at 7:15 p.m., Thursday and a
      Legion prayer service was held at 8:30 p.m., Friday. A funeral service
      was held Sunday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev.
      Randy Bishop officiating. Burial was in Greenmount Cemetery.

      Hospital or St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Dansville, NY 14437. (GCE,
