- John Ross was a soldier in the Indian War at Narragansett, in the
company from Charlestown and Malden, under Captain Mosely, and he was
one of those assigned their wages to the town of Charlestown, August
24, 1676. This was done that the soldiers' families might not suffer
through the delay in receiving their pay when due. The town advanced
these sums and later collected from the Colony Government. The town
of Malden was also credited by sums paid to John Ross, during this
period.
