- DANSVILLE - Harold E. Whitford, 87, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000 at St.
James Hospital in Hornell where he had been a patient for two weeks.
He was born June 16, 1913 in the Town of Hornellsville, the son of the
late Silas and Eva (Weld) Whitford. He was married on Dec. 4, 1945 in
Bath, N.Y. to Lois M. (McDaniel) Whitford to whom he was married for
54 years.
He was employed on the family farm with his father for several years
and by the Erie Railroad for eight years. He had been the co-owner and
operator of the Beacon Inn on the Almond Rd. and was owner and
operator of the Whitehorse Crest along with his wife for 20 years.
Harold also owned and operated his own water well drilling business
for 20 years.
He was predeceased by a very special nephew, Billy McDaniel, in 1992;
three sisters, Marion Whitford, Hazel Dunn and Lillian Clark; and
three brothers, Robert, Frank and Max Whitford.
Besides his wife, Lois, he is survived by one daughter, Diane (Pat)
Kenney of Dansville; and one son, Royce Whitford of Dansville; two
grandchildren, Todd (Stacie) Faulds of Florida and Brandi Kenney of
Springwater; one great-grandchild, Jayson Faulds of Florida; one
sister-in-law, Ruth Smith of Hornell; two brothers-in-law, Lewis
(Shirley) McDaniel of Dansville and Lyle McDaniel of Arkport; and
several nieces and nephews.
Friends called Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Chamberlin Funeral
Home, Inc., 73 Main St., Dansville, N.Y. where funeral and committal
services were held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jamie Stevens
officiating. Burial was in the Arkport Cemetery, Arkport, N.Y.
