- ALFRED/LAKELAND, Fla. -- Thomas Kenneth Emerson, age 85, formerly of
Alfred and Waterloo, died unexpectedly at his home in Lakeland, Fla.
He was born Dec. 17, 1916 in Hornell, the son of Thomas and Agnes
Whitford Emerson. He was married Aug. 31, 1941 to the former Charlotte
M. Ferry, who died in 1985. He was predeceased by a daughter, Carol
Ann McLaughlin.
He resided his early years in Alfred and was a graduate of former
Alfred High School.
A long time employee of Agway, Inc., he retired as Manager of the
Geneva Agway, Inc., in 1980 with over 40 years of service. He moved to
Geneva in 1969 and had resided in Waterloo and Lakeland, Fla. since
his retirement.
He was a member of the Masonic Fraternity for many years and was a
past Secretary of the Batavia Kiwanis Club. He served with the U.S.
Army during WWII.
He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and more
recently, a golfer.
He is survived by one daughter, Jean Humiston of Arlington, Texas; a
granddaughter, Patricia Mae Humiston of Arlington, Texas and several
cousins.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, at the
Robertson Funeral Home, Inc., Hornell, where funeral services will be
held immediately following at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Terry Kelly,
officiating. Burial will be Saturday in the Alfred Rural Cemetery,
Alfred.
