- LAFAYETTE, La. — Patricia G. Hendee of Lafayette, La., passed away peacefully Saturday (Dec. 10, 2011) at 1:28 p.m. surrounded by her family at Amelia Manor Nursing Home, where she had been a patient since September.
She was born June 10, 1925 in Hornell, to John M. and Marjorie Mackay Grace. She was a graduate of St. Ann’s School, Class of ‘39 and was valedictorian of her Hornell High School, Class of 1943. In 1946, she graduated as a Registered Nurse from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Elmira, and was employed for over 25 years with Bethesda Hospital in Hornell.
On March 2, 1946, she married James B. Hendee in Hornell, who passed away on April 20, 1958 after 12 years of marriage. Her parents also predeceased her.
Survivors include her son, Martin (Barbara) Hendee of Lafayette, La.; her sister, Barbara Davis of Lafayette, La.; her four grandchildren, Joseph (Amanda) Hendee and Rod Burke of Lafayette, La., Amy (Patrick) Allen of Fredericksburg, Va., and Lauren Burke of Clearwater, Fla. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers.
The family request that visitation be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services today at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette.
Reverend Thomas Habetz, associate pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services.
Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
