In 1955 he was united in marriage to Ethel Kreutter Wilkes, who predeceased him in 2000. David was an avid gardener and took pride in being able to provide for his family. He and Ethel happily raised their 8 children on the family farm in Alexander, NY. He was a longtime employee of the New York State Thruway Authority working at the Batavia and Silver Creek Interchanges before retiring as Highway Maintenence Supervisor in Henrietta, NY.
