Frank Wilton Staley
1867 - 1906 (39 years)-
Name Frank Wilton Staley Birth 8 May 1867 Johnstown, Fulton Co., New York, USA Gender Male Death 3 Jun 1906 Albany, Albany Co., New York, USA Burial Vale Cemetery, Schenectady, Schenectady Co., New York, USA Notes - Frank Staley, one of the best known motormen employed by the United Traction Company, died at his home, No. 215 Second Street, early this yesterday morning, after an illness of but two days. Mr. Staley was on the West Albany line, and had his car out as usual Thursday. After his regular trip he was requested to make an extra trip and although not feeling well at the time he obeyed with characteristic devotion to duty, and started on the extra job. When the car reached Steuben Street and Broadway he was taken seriously ill and had to call an inspector to finish the trip. He then went to his home. Mr. Staley was born in Fulton County in 1867, and had been employed by the Albany Railway and United Traction Company since 1896. He was of quiet disposition and one of the most conscientious men on the road. The news of his death came before it was generally known that he was ill, and his taking away occasions a sorrow which is keenly felt and best known by his fellow workman and associates. The railway men draped the Quail Street office building in mourning; the first time that such recognition was given a departed brother. The funeral will take place tomorrow, and in view of the fact that it is circus day and all if the regular and extra men have to be on their cars, it will be impossible for any of the men to attend it, but this evening the employees will form at the Quail street office at 6:30 and proceed to Mr. Staley's home to pay their last respects. Mr.Staley leaves a wife and two children.
