- Hester L. Whitwood, 93, of Franklin Street in Dansville died Sunday (Jan. 21, 1990).
Born Nov. 4, 1896, in Wayland, a daughter of Nicholas and Mary Rawleigh Kurtz, she was married to Deo Whitwood who died in 1954. She was predeceased by two sons, Edwin in 1955 and Robert in 1987.
Prior to retirement, she was employed as a cook at the Dansville Hospital. She also has operated the kitchen at the Dansville Moose Club. A member of the Dansville Women of the Moose, she also was a life member of Priscilla Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, in South Dansville.
Surviving are two daughters, Audrey Spiak and Patricia Tobin, both of Wayland; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A service was conducted in the Chamberlin Funeral Home of Dansville Wednesday morning with the Rev. G. Calvin Sheasley officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery, South Dansville.
