  Notes	MUNRO- June age 88 of Smithtown, died 30 July. Born June 22 1927 outside of Pittsburgh, the only child of Sarah (McCutcheon) and Arthur Gorman she was a member of the Carleton College class of 1949 and proudly supported the college throughout her life. While working for Liberty Mutual in NYC she met and married William "Bill" Munro and moved to Smithtown in 1958. She raised three children, all of whom owe her a debt of gratitude that is difficult to fathom, Elizabeth Munro von Keller (Arthur von Keller) of Marshall, VA, Cameron Munro (Joy Munro) of Wilton, CT and Janet Munro Coleman (Christopher Coleman) of Midlothian, VA. Following her husband's untimely death in 1972, June went to work for the Suffolk County Probation Department where she became a Supervising Probation Officer and an original officer of the Suffolk County Probation Officers Association. She dedicated her working years to the Probation Department and its officers, retiring at the age of 75. She also earned an MSW from CW Post all while supporting her children financially and intellectually from grade school through High School, on through College, Graduate school, Law school and life. Once having come to terms with being called 'Grandma', June was an extraordinarily attentive and loving grandmother to Sarah Conrad Rodriguez of Front Royal VA, William and Alison Munro of Wilton, CT and Jordan, Rachel and Logan Coleman of Midlothian, VA. June was also 'Grandma' in every sense to Travis von Keller Pence of Cleveland, OH and Nick von Keller of Los Angeles, CA. June always spoke her mind and there was rarely a time it wasn't abundantly clear where she stood on an idea, issue, or individual. She was a great admirer of FDR and supported progressive causes as an unabashed liberal her entire life. June donated her time and money to numerous organizations dedicated to social justice, the environment and animal welfare. Though less than five feet tall, June was a towering presence. She was keenly intelligent and fiercely independent, earning the respect, admiration and friendship of her colleagues, and enjoying the unending love of her family and many close friends who will miss her dearly and remember her always. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the; American Heart Association , the Southern Poverty Law Center, The Sierra Club, or a charity of your choosing, in June's name, is greatly appreciated. A gathering to honor June's life is planned for the afternoon of Saturday, September 12 at 49 Lexington Ave in Smithtown.
