He retired from International Paper in 1992 with 41 years of service. He was a member of Battery B, 631st Field Artillery National Guard, Company B 303rd Signal Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas, 93rd Signal Battalion, Army Electronic Proving Ground, Fort Huachuca, Arizona and the Army Reserve. He was a licensed amateur radio operator call sign WA5MTW. He was preceded in death by his father, Percy Wilford Lander, his mother, Lela Mae Byrd Lander, and brothers Percy W. “Pete” Lander, Jr, and Frederick H. “Jack “ Lander. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rose Greenough Lander; his children, Ann Bell (Harry) Starkville, MS, Melanie Byrd (Charles) Lucedale, MS, Floyd Edward Lander, Moss Point, MS, Barry Lander (Renee) Moss Point, MS, and William Lander (Lynn) Moss Point, MS; six grandchildren, Kelli Belcher (Mark), Moss Point, MS, Foley Holditch (Robby) Starkville, MS, Shay Wilkerson, Moss Point, MS, Harry C. Bell IV, Itasca, TX, Rosanne Byrd, Lucedale, MS, and Kayla Cothran (Nick) Lucedale, MS; four great grandchildren, Hunter Belcher, Ann Carlton Holditch, Grayson Skelton, and Grace Holditch; and seven brothers and sisters, Clarice “Tootsie” Milberg, Jesse Lander, Arthur Lander (Jane ), Gerald “Jerry” Lander, Linda Lander, Mary Elizabeth Foster (Jack) and Joe Lander (Betty) Visitation will be held at Holder Wells Funeral Home on Thursday, October 29, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.at Holder-Wells Funeral Home 4007 Main St. Moss Point, MS.A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Griffin Cemetery in Moss Point, MS with Beverly Maddox officiating.
