- Mr. Gerald Calhoun "Jerry" Lander, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2019 at the age of 78. He was born September 10, 1940 in Jackson County, MS to Percy and Lola Mae Byrd Lander.
He worked for Huntington Ingalls, and International Paper Company. And was a member of the local 733 IBEW.
Jerry enjoyed reading Louis L'Amour Westerns, watching and listening to the birds and all things in nature. He loved planting a big garden every year and sharing the extras with everyone. But his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Wilson Lander, daughter, Sandra Gamble, grandson, Billy Boatwell, Jr., granddaughter, Brittany Megan Saucier. Brothers, P.W. Lander, Jack Lander, Floyd Lander, and sister Clarice Millberger.
Survivors include: his daughter, Darenda (Joey) Platt, Son, Derrick Lander, brothers, Arthur Lander, Joe (Betty) Lander, and Jessie Lander. sisters, Linda Lander, and Elizabeth (Jack) Foster.
7 grandchildren: Kelly, Michael (Becky), Brittany (Mike), Colten, Tristen, Madison and Mackenzie. 11 great grandchildren, Braelyn, Ann, Carsyn, Kendal, Laikyn, Haley, Barrett, Jaxon, Christian, Huck, and Lillie. along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins
Visitation will be held Sunday July 7, from 6p.m. until 8p.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home, 4007 Main St. Moss Point, MS 39563. Funeral Service will be Monday, July 8, at 3p.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home Chapel where friends may call one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in W.R. Clark Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mission Dept. at Midway United Methodist Church, Operation Christmas Child.
