Notes |
- She was a daughter of Russell and Lucinda (Norton) Dyer, and a sister to Samuel Dyer who is buried in Garlinghouse Cemetery. She was the wife of Charles Mitchell and of three additional husbands.
Garlinghouse was her childhood home. Her first husband, Charles Mitchell, with whom she had two children, Lucinda and Mahlon, died about 1873. Per published marriage announcements Abigail Dyer Mitchell married two times - in 1874 to Mr. Danforth Grow who died in 1885, and in 1886 to Mr. Morrison Parks who died in 1891. She next married an as yet unidentified Mr. Carpenter. As Mrs. Carpenter, she lived a number of years in Swains, but then moved to be with her son in East Springwater where she died. Numerous social news items follow her marriages and her frequent visits from a sister, Electa Dyer Warner, of Detroit Michigan. Upon her death, her obituaries appeared under the name of either Mrs. Abigail Mitchell or Mrs. Abigail Carpenter.
