- NUNDA - Ward Sanford, Jr., age 81, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at
Noyes Memorial Hospital. Born in Mt. Morris, the son of the late Ward
and Laura Sanford, Sr., he was a lifelong area resident. Ward was
employed by Cipriano Bros. Construction as a truck driver, until his
retirement. He was a World War II Army Veteran. He was a member of the
Nunda American Legion Post and VFW Post. He was also a 50+ year member
of the Nunda Fire Department. He married the former JoAn Walker, and
together they raised five children.
Ward was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Peg Underwood and
Bette France; and in 2001 by his son, Larry.
In addition to his wife of 47 years, JoAn, Ward is survived by two
daughters; Jerilyn (Bruce) Clark of Varysburg, and Linda MacArthur of
East Rochester; two sons, Lon (Holly) of Macedon, and Randy of
Rochester; four brothers, John of Calif., Sherman and Adrian of Nunda,
and Dale of Dalton; one sister, Roberta Richardson of Castile; two
aunts, Elizabeth and Lena Sanford; and one uncle, Paul Sanford; seven
grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and
numerous friends.
The family will receive friends Tuesday (Nov. 16) from 2-4 and 7-9
p.m. at the Mann Funeral Home, 44 State St., Nunda, where a funeral
service will be held Wednesday (Nov. 17) at 11 a.m., with the Rev.
Paul Palmer officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Hill Cemetery,
Portage.
