Fred Mitchell was a life-long resident of Potter County. He worked as a teamster (1900) as a young man still living with his parents in Eulalia Twp. For most of his life, Fred and wife Becky farmed in Genesee Twp.
US Census reports show the following names: Frederick (1880) and F.M. (1910), but Fred was the most common. He used Fred on his World War I draft registration card (1918). His father used Freddie on a pension questionnaire (1887).
Records show three different birth dates. The one he used for draft registration seems to be the most authoritative.
