- Francis W. O'Dell Sr. - 55,of the Turnpike Rd., was pronounced dead on
arrival, at St.James Mercy Hospital Thursday(February 28,1991) after
being stricken ill at work.
Born October 30,1935,in Woodhall,New York a son of Francis (aka Frank)
,and Della Jackson O'Dell.He was Married May 30,1957 in Hornell,New
York. to the former Elaine Smith,who survives.Residing in the Jasper
area for several years.He then moved to Hornell,living on the Turnpike
for the past 24 years.
He was employed as an electrican at Morrison Knudsen of Hornell,at the
time of death.
He was a veteran of the Navy.A member of The First Baptist Church of
Hornell,serving as a member of the Diaconate,and was a former
trustee,and a former member of the church choir. He had been a 4-H
Leader,for several years,and was a former member of the Buds N
Blossoms Square Dance Club.
He was pre-deceased by one sister,Delores Smith,In aaddition to his
wife,survivors include,one daughter,darlene O'Dell of Almond,four
son'sFrancis Jr., and Timothy,both ofHornell.Jonathan,stationed in
Saudi Arabia,and Geoffrey,stationed in Germany;Four sister's Agnes De
Kay ofQueen Creek, Arizona,Glady's Putsman on Jasper,Beverly Miles of
Hartsville,and Paula Brizzee of Wellsville.Three brother's Ronald,of
Canisteo,and Gerald of Avoca.Seven grandchildren,and several
nieces,and nephews.Body at Bender,Brown,and Powers Funeral Funeral
Home.A funeral service will be at 11:A.M.
Wednesday.Rev.Michael Krembs officating.Burial will be in The O'Dell
Family Cemetery,Turnpike Rd. Hornell,New York.
