    Notes
    • In 1850 his property was valued at $6,160. In 1870 his estate was valued at $33,000 and his personal property at $3,000. Henry owned 160 acres of land in Dansville. From his obituary in the Dansville Express 02 April 1991, "Henry Hartman died at his home on Ossian Street on Friday at the age of 78 years. He was born in Dansville, his grandfather and father coming here at an early day from Pennsylvania, and nearly all his life he lived in the house on his farm at the foot of Main Street, the building having been erected in 1807. His first wife died in 1879 and in 1882 he married Mrs. Cassie Hartman who survives him. In 1852 Mr. Hartman went to California in company with Mr. Z. Dildine and the late Henry Harrison, but being sick he remained only a year and a half. He was a member of the English Lutheran church, a quiet and unassuming citizen who though once elected a justice of the peace failed to qualify: a Past Master of Phoenix Lodge, F & A M, for many years its treasurer, and a member of the Royal Arch Chapter. He leaves three children, the result of his first marriage, O.L. Hartman and Mrs. L.B. Grant of this village, and Hon. H.R. Hartman of Dakota, and one child by his present wife. The funeral was held on Monday, Rev. W.L. Benson of the Lutheran church making remarks at the house, after which the Masonic fraternity took charge and conducted the services according to the ritual of the order. There were present from abroad; Hon. H.R. Hartman of Dakota, Fred Hartman of Buffalo, Mrs. M. L. Horton of Rochester, Miss Kate Hartman and Lester Hartman of Groveland and Nicholas Schu of Hornellsville."
