Plot: Hartman(John)Notes - Frank received his education in the Dansville Seminary and afterward completed a course in Eastman Business College at Poughkeepsie,NY. On his return to Dansville he became associated with his father in the nursery business and since 1885 has continued in this field of activity, with which he connected with for over forty years. He combined an expert knowledge of business with administrative ability and now utilizes about fifty acres for the growing of fine fruit trees for the wholesale trade. He also served as president of the Livingston Land Company of Buffalo, and his business interests were extensive and important. He was a member of the New York State Nurserymen's Association and the American Association of Nurserymen. Frank was also a member of the Episcopal church, of which he had been vestryman for more than twenty years, and his political support was given to the democratic party. He was a member of the Union Hose Company No.1, for a number of years and served as trustee, vice president and president of the organization. He was broad-minded, progressive, and public-spirited and measures up to the highest standards in every relation of life. Frank and his wife, Hortense, never had any children.
- HARTMAN—Frank M. Hartman, 73, veteran nurseryman and director of the Dansville Citizens' Bank & Trust Co., died Thursday at the Dansville Hospital following a major operation. He had been engaged in the nursery business for 50 years and for 20 years he had been a vestryman of St. Peter's Memorial Episcopal Church, as well as having had a prominent part in various other organizations and in the community life of Dansville. The Hartman family has resided in Dansville for more than a century, his great-grandfather, Harmon Hartman, a native of Northumberland County, Pa., having been one of the earliest settlers in that section, arriving there in 1807. He is survived by his wife, who was Miss Hortense Pauline Armstrong; a sister, Mary, and a brother, Albert of Dansville.
