Mrs. Fries was the daughter of the late Henry and Sophia Hartman and was born in Sparta, March 9, 1863. She was united in marriage to Nicholas C. Fries, when 18 years of age. To them were born two children, one of whom is living. Mr. and Mrs. Fires spent many years on their farm in Ossian and moved to Dansville 27 years ago. Mrs. Fries was a devoted member of Saint Paul's United Lutheran church. Deborah Chapter O. E. S., Kale J Jackson Court of Amaranth, Loyal Hearts Circle, King's Daughters, and Ladies Aid Society of St Paul's church. She was very active in her church and in all the societies of which she was a member. She had a very large circle of friends who mourn her passing. Mrs. Fries is survived by one son, Henry Fries, of Ossian; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ida Eveland, of South Dansville; two brothers, Joseph Hartman of South Dansville, and Clarence Hartman of this village and a number of nephews and nieces. The remains were removed to Grover's undertaking parlors and on Wednesday taken to the family home in Lincoln Avenue. Funeral services were held from the family home Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev Charles M. Karg. D. D. officiating. Deborah Chapter O. E. S. had charge of the services at the grave. Burial was made in the family plot in Greenmount cemetery. The bearers were Vernon Purchase. Edward Finn, Augustus Gruschow, Verne Woodworth, David Kidd and Arthur Sterner.
