- Born in 1912 in Springfield, Mo., and raised in Kansas, Lillian Lewis was one of two daughters born to Charles and Katharine Fairchild Lewis.
Mrs. Fisher's grandfather, Herman LeRoy Fairchild, was a professor of geology and natural sciences at the University of Rochester from 1888 to 1920. He registered the first female student at the university, in 1900.
Mrs. Fisher graduated from the University of Nebraska with a bachelor of science degree in business administration in 1933. Three years later she moved to Rochester and went to work for Eastman Kodak Company.
Lillian married J. Sheldon Fisher in 1939 and They raised four children — Lewis, Douglas, Warner and Priscilla.
