- The Stoughton Historical Society provides, on it’s website, an extract from the diary of Elijah Dunbar, who was a pastor in the town of Stoughton, Massachusetts at the time of the 1764 smallpox epidemic. Ebenezer Talbot was living in Stoughton with his family at the time of the outbreak and according to Pastor Dunbar’s entries, Ebenezer Talbot died there, from smallpox, on the 23rd day of June 1764.
