  Notes	Elijah was elected Coroner of Morris County 16 November 1887. He was also called on to witness the execution of August (Charlie) Bergerman for murder on 20 June 1895[peter.FTW] There is a biographical account in the Morris Co. NJ 1899 Vol II. At 20 he went to work on his brother Stephen's farm for two years. Then he moved to Middle Valley and worked for another brother for two years. Then he rented the old homestead until 1864 when it was left to him on bequest. He is an active Democrat and served in various offices.
