- Frank Ross, 89, of Middleton, Tenn., passed away Tuesday (Jan. 22, 2008) at his home.
Born in the Town of Canisteo Sept. 5, 1918, he was the son of John and Bernice (Stewart) Ross. He grew up and resided in the Canisteo area until 1972, when he moved to Lake City, Fla. In 1976, he moved to Middleton, Tenn. He was a dairy farmer most of his life, while working other various jobs, retiring in 1985.
He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Drake Ross, whom he married on May 15, 1948, after 58 years of marriage on Nov. 7, 2006. He also was predeceased by his parents, four brothers, Leo Ross, Elmer Ross, Burdette Ross, and his twin, Fred Ross, who died at birth, two sisters, Mary Ingalls and Lottie Swift, as well as his life-long friend, Zypha (Junior) Swift.
He is survived by two daughters, Sheila (Edward) Bailey of Tenn., Sue (Mike) Hovey of Addison; six sons, James (Rosa) of Tennessee, John Ross of Canisteo, Gerald (Maria) Ross of Canisteo, Jeff Ross of Howard, Stanley (Karen) Ross of Howard, and Joseph (Kim) Ross of Tennessee; a sister, Barbara Jessup Martin of Corning; his mother-in-law, Ruby Drake of Canisteo; brothers-in-law, Melford (Ruth) Drake of Bath, Stanley (Patricia) Drake of Cuba, and Marvin (Susan) Drake of Canisteo; 28 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews and his faithful canine campanion, Bummer.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will take place in the spring at a time to be announced. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in the Town of Canisteo.
