- A Town of Dansville man, Clarence (Blackie) Kennell, 68, of Arkport died Friday (July 2, 1982) in Bethesda Community Hospital, North Hornell.
A resident of Arkport for the past 39 years, he was employed as a trackman for the former Erie-Lackawanna Railroad in Hornell. He was a member of the Arkport Memorial American Legion Post and the Arkport Fire Department.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Towsley Kennell; five daughters, Mrs. Mary Kenyon of Canaseraga, Mrs. Joan Kramer of Hornell, Mrs. Kathryn Lyke of Horseheads, Mrs. Jean Gribbin of Jamestown, Mrs. Patricia Ellis of Arkport; a son, Ronald of Arkport; two sisters, Mrs. Alta Fronk and Mrs. Evelyn Wagner, both of Dansville; 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was conducted Wednesday in Hornell. Burial was in Arkport Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Arkport Fire Department. (GCE, July 8, 1982, p4)
