- James J. Mitchell of 71 Franklin St. died Wednesday (July 4, 1973) in Bethesda Hospital, Hornell, following a long illness. He was 59.
Born in Wayland, Mr. Mitchell had resided most of his life in the Dansville area. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a welder at Foster Wheeler Corp. Mr. Mitchell was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Geneseo.
Surviving are his wife, Stella Jones Mitchell; a daughter, Janice at home; a son, Larry of Addison; his father, Jesse Mitchell of Buffalo; a sister, Mrs. Cornelia Beard of Buffalo; three brothers, Raymond of Toledo, O., Daniel of Isabelle, S.D., Jacob of Wayland; three grandchildren.
A service was conducted at the convenience of the family in the Chamberlin Funeral Home. Burial was in Greenmount Cemetery. (GCE, July 12, 1973, p5)
