- Francis C. Carney, age 83 of Depot Rd., in Dansville, died Friday, November 20, 1998, at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville after a short illness.
He was born in Canadice on November 10, 1915, the son of William and Leola Salter Carney and was a graduate of Dansville High School.
Fran was a self employed farmer for 40 years. He worked as a custodian for Dansville Central School for 15 years retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Sparta Center United Methodist Church.
He was married to Helen Kiehle in Dansville on June 30, 1937. They had celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary this past June.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Helen are four daughters, Jane (Warren) Corbin of Charleston, SC, Jean (Lyle) Bassage of Walworth, Ann (John L.) Davis of San Antonio, TX, Mary Elnicky of Rochester, a son William (Susan) Carney of Big Flats, and a half sister Judy Clancy of Wayland. Twelve grandchildren Jeffery Corbin, Stacie Webster, Kara Bishop, Dawn Kittleson, Denise Bickert, Kelly Eirirch, Eric Davis , John Robert, Christopher and Sarah Elnicky, Jonathan and Elizabeth Carney, two great grandchildren Andrew and Rebecca Kittleson
Friends may call Today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the Hindle Funeral Home, 271 Main St., Dansville, where services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery in Dansville at the convenience of the family.
