    • COHOCTON - William F. Holbrook, 76, passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at the home of his son in Cohocton, surrounded by his loving family.

      Bill was born Sept. 6, 1933, in Almond, a son of Frederick and Treva (Waggoner) Holbrook. Bill married Virginia Francis Long on Jan. 19, 1952, she predeceased him in March 2007.

      Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1953 to 1955. Bill retired from Foster Wheeler Corp. in Dansville having worked there more than 43 years as a welder and power house attendant.

      Bill was a life member and past Chief of the Hatch Hose Fire Co. in N. Cohocton-Atlanta and he had also been active in the International Assoc. of Machinist Union at Foster Wheeler.

      He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed playing cards, watching television and years ago he enjoyed camping, but most of all the time spent with his children and grandchildren was what he loved most.

      Bill is survived by his children, Kim (Joe) Lofrisco of Cohocton, Bonnie (Dave) Brooker of Sebring, Fla., Michael Holbrook, Dave (Kristine) Holbrook and Kevin (Debbie) Holbrook all of Cohocton; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Florence Partridge of Groveland, Joyce (Don) Snow of Baldwinsville, Mille (George) Worden of Pavilion and Joan Welton (Roy Bennett) of Dansville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

      Funeral services were held Monday at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 300 West Naples St., Wayland, and the burial was at Clearview Cemetery.
