Moose: Relatives in Sparta have received telegrams of the death of Peter J. Moose, which occurred at the home of his son-in-law, Arch St. John, 1301 Stone street, Flint, Michigan, on Saturday, July 23, 1921. He had been an invalid for nearly three years from paralysis, and for the last six months had been confined to his bed. Peter John Moose was the son of John Moose and Elizabeth Wenner, and was born in the town of Sparta, on the old Moose homestead, where Rev. Seymour Moose now lives, August 28, 1851, and therefore was nearly 70 years of age. He finished his education at the Temple Hill high school in Geneseo, and then taught several terms of school. On August 13, 1878, he was united in marriage to Mary Williams, daughter of Harry Williams and Henriette Milliman, and they began housekeeping in Claytonville and lived then until 1879 when they moved to Saginaw,Michigan, when he was engaged in lumbering. In 1882 they moved to Los Angeles, California, intending to settle there, but not liking the country they returned to Sparta, where they lived until 1891, when they moved to Flushing, Michigan. He soon after bought a farm near the city of Flint where he lived until his health failed and he then went to live with his daughter. He was an estimable Christian man, and his religious faith was an Advent. He had been licensed to
preach and was an exhorter. For many years he was superintendent of the Sabbath school at Mt. Pleasant, and the sessions were often spoken of as the most interesting ever held in that place. He was a member of the F. and A. M.,Royal Arch Masons, and of the K. O. T. M., and Loyal Guards. The funeral was held on Tuesday and; he was buried in Michigan. Besides his widow, he leaves one son, Harvey Moose, and one daughter, Mrs. Arch St. John of Flint, seven grandchildren; also one half brother, Alonso Moose of Dansviille, and many more distant relatives in Sparta and Dansville to mourn his loss.
