- Clyde E. Sterner age 83, of Vista Hill Rd., in Dansville passed away early Sunday morning November 7, 1999, at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.
He was born in N. Dansville, on December 29, 1915, a son of Scott and Golda Hoes Sterner. On June 27, 1942, he was married to Beatrice Knapp who survives. He was predeceased by a son-in- law Joseph P. Schramm.
Clyde was a self-employed Dairy and crop farmer on his own farm until his retirement in 1986. He was active in Livingston County agricultural organizations serving in the A.S.C., Co-Operative Extension, and served on the Board of Directors of the Conesus Milk Producers for twelve years. He was a 60 year member of the Dansville Grange. He served as a charter member of the North Dansville zoning board.
He was a life member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where he had served on the church council for nine years. He was a member and past Master of Phoenix Lodge # 115, of the F & AM, the Royal Arch Masons Chapter # 91, serving as High Priest for two terms. He was also a member of the Kate J. Jackson Court of Amaranth all of Dansville.
Surviving in addition to his wife Beatrice, are a son; David (Cheryl) Sterner of Wayland, two daughters; Judith (Colin) Monro of West Henrietta and Carolyn Schramm of Syracuse. A brother Harold (Mary) Sterner of Dansville and a sister Jeanne Wolfanger of Wayland. Five grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Hindle Funeral Home, 271 Main St., Dansville where services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Randolph Bishop and Rev. David Hotchkiss officiating. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville. A Masonic service will be held Tuesday at 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
