- Alexandra Nichol Hartman, 60, of Leland, N.C., died Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at home.
Alex was born April 13, 1950, in Mahopac, daughter of the late E. Jeffrey Nichol and Dorothy Burgess Nichol.
Alexandra was a very active member of St. Paul?s Episcopal Church in Wilmington, N.C. Her strong faith sustained her and involved her in many church activities over the past nine years. She served as head of the Alter Guild, shared her talents on many committees and most importantly, shared her passion and vocal talents by singing in the church choir.
Alex enjoyed playing golf with her husband and friends, singing many lead roles in community Broadway musicals throughout the years; learning to knit; reading and spending time with her family; spending time with her granddaughter living in Wilmington; and sharing a cup of tea with friends.
Before retiring and relocating to Magnolia Greens Golf Plantation in North Carolina nine years ago, Alex worked for 33 years as a dental assistant as well as volunteering with the Dansville EMT services.
She is survived by her husband of 13 years, Larry Hartman; sister, Nancy (Bill) Bandla; stepson, David (Kelly) Hamsher; stepdaughters, Shelly (Doug) Stein and Tracy (Bill) Burley; stepson, Mike (Amy) Hartman; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was Monday, Feb. 14, at St. Paul?s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Randy Green and the Rev. Victor Frederiksen officiating. The family received friends in the Parish Hall following the service.
