- SOUTH DANSVILLE - Bessie R. Lander, 81, passed away peacefully Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at Livingston County Campus in Mt. Morris.
Bessie was born July 8, 1923, in Dansville, a daughter of Otto and Florence (Scott) Holbrook. She was predeceased by her husband Earl S. Lander on May 15, 1981. She was a homemaker and mother of three daughters. In her younger years, she worked at Blum Shoe Manufacturing Co. and the White Horse Crest, both of Dansville.
Bessie was a member of the South Dansville United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. She and her husband Earl enjoyed traveling and camping after Earl's retirement. They took many trips, visiting 49 of the 50 states.
Bessie is survived by her daughters Barbara Burger of Wayland and Marilyn Bridge of Dansville and Lorraine Gianvecchio of Rochester; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; her brothers- and sisters-in-law Roscoe Shull of Conesus, Cecil Curtis of Mt. Morris, Elmer and Ila Lander of Atlanta, Glen Harloff of Wayland and Doris and Raymond Alger of Silver Creek; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends called 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Chamberlin-Baird Funeral Home, 73 Main St., Dansville, where funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery, South Dansville.
