He was the son of George and Cynthia Hathaway Taylor. He enlisted age 20 on Aug 11, 1862 for three years in Co D, 20th Reg Mich Inf Volunteers under Capt. C.B. Grant. Discharged March 26, 1863 at Mt. Pleasant Hospital, Washington, D.C. Albert returned from the war, and married Emma Vincent Sayles on July 4th, 1866 in Decatur, Michigan. The couple lived on Albert's farm in Onondaga in Ingham Co. and had four children, Wilton b. 1872, Ida b. 1875, Nettie b. 1878, and George A. b. 1882. George Taylor died at his home in Onondaga in November 1902.
