  Notes	Abraham became a prosperous farmer, and minister in the MethodistChurch. Converted by Orson Hyde, he became a follower of Latter DaySaints in 1836, where his line is well documented. An in depth sketch ofhis life was written by son Alley Stephen Rose in 1907, "The Life and Labors of Abraham Rose. On 10-6-1839, he took his family from their home in Howard, Steuben Co., NY, and went by oxcart to Carthage, Athens,Ohio. There, they and LDS associates engaged in the manufacture of maplesugar and syrup. In September of 1843 they moved on to Nauvoo, Illinois,where he met the prophet Joseph Smith. He served the church near thereuntil the winter of 1846, when their great exodus westward began. Losingan ox to a mob for food, he crossed the prairies to Council Bluffs withan ox and cow yoked together, stopping there in August 1847. Theyremained there until 6-4-1853, leaving then with 2 wagons, 5 yoke ofcattle, and 8 children, joining the company of 75 wagons under JohnCooley. The trek west to Salt Lake City took 110 days, arriving there9-17-1853. He settled at Farmington, 17 miles north of Salt Lake.
