Born in Rochester in 1951, Lee grew up in rural Ionia, NY in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. He was the only child of Paul and Nellie Flemming. Lee started working in the late 60s at a small regional paint store, Schuele and Co, in Rochester. He met his wife, Phoebe Jane, at a friend's wedding and they married in fall 1973. They started their life together in a quaint apartment in Batavia, NY. Lee and Phoebe then moved to Buffalo, NY where he began classes at Erie County Community College while working full time. He graduated Summa Cum Laude, transferred to Buffalo State College earning a BS followed later by an MBA from SUNY at Buffalo. By the early 80s in Buffalo, Lee got a job in sales with the large paint company, Benjamin Moore & Co. Soon after, the Flemmings welcomed the arrival of their first born, Phoebe Katherine in 1982. Benjamin Moore then transferred Lee and his family to Houston, Texas where they welcomed the arrival of their youngest, Benjamin Ethan in 1986. After Houston, Lee and his family spent 4 years in Naperville, IL just outside of Chicago then moved to Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ, where the family has lived ever since. For the last 10 years Lee had worked for Hilti North America, a large industrial equipment manufacturer. He also spent time as a town councilman of Ho-Ho-Kus. Lee will always be remembered for his grand presence and personality and now he is larger than life with a spirit fit only for the high heavens. He was a loyal and compassionate man who cared deeply for those close to him. He is survived by his wife Phoebe Jane, daughter Phoebe (Katy) Katherine, son Ben, loving lab Bernie, and plenty of close cousins and wonderful friends. A celebration of life will be held at Saint Bartholomew's Church in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ on October 1 2016 at 3pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the ASPCA.
