Witter, was born October 15, 1854, in the town of Wirt, N. Y., and died at Bethesda Hospital, Hornell, April 6, 1945. He was united in marriage to Eola A. Allen of Alfred December 30, 1879. Mrs. Witter passed away May 28, 1930. He was the oldest living member of the First Alfred Seventh Day Baptist Church; he joined the church in 1879, retaining an active membership of sixty-six years. Seven children survive: Charles H., Laura J., Ethel Wilcox, J. Etta, E. Allen, Frances Johnson, and Raymond B. Also surviving are two brothers, Rev. E. Adelbert and Charles E.; a sister, Mrs. Jessie W. Randolph; thirteen grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A prayer service was held at the home, followed by farewell services at the church. His pastor, Rev. E. T. Harris, officiated. Burial was in Alfred Rural Cemetery. E. T. H.
