Mary Blood married John Shattuck and had one son and 4 daughters. Her husband was killed by the Indians, in Groton, May 8, 1709, at age 42 y.ears., leaving Mary with a daughter only 3 months old. He was a farmer and occupied the homestead, which had before belonged to Mary's father, James Blood, and which, after his death also by Indians, was set off to the widow, as her portion of the real estate, and by her sold to Mr. Shattuck. It was situated on the "Nod Road," so called, which runs northeasterly from the Stony-Ford-Way at Hollingsworth's paper-mills. The Shattucks and Bloods owned large tracts of land on both sides of Nashua River, in the vicinity of these mills. She passed away in 1756. a. 83 y. 6 m. 3 d.
