- Donald E. Beman, 62, of 1840 N. Almond Valley Rd., died unexpectedly early Saturday morning (Feb. 24, 2001) at his home.
Born in Hornell, NY. December 18, 1938, a son of Edward and Hazel (Brutsman) Beman, he had been a lifelone area resident. He was a graduate of Arkport Central School, Class of 1956, and served in the U.S. Navy from 1957-61. He had been employed as an insurance Salesman for Prudential Insurance Co. and more recently had been employed as a carpenter for Don Dennis.
He was a former member of the Arkport Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Arkport American Legion, and the South Dansville Masonic Lodge #478, F & AM. He served as Grand Sword Bearer from 1996-98.
Surviving are his wife, Deloris (Eaton) Beman, whom he married on October 31, 1981; two daughters, Ruth (Vincent) Graniero of Ontario and Karen Beman of Rochester, NY.; three step daughters, Cheryl Sucher of Rochester, Tina (Rodney) Beardsley of Dalton and Lisa Eaton of Norfolf, VA.; one sister, Doris (Darryl) Griffing of Wayland; one brother, James (Lynette) Beman of Florida; six grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family will be present from 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm. Tuesday, to receive friends at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St., Hornell where a Masonic Memorial Service will be held Tuesday evening at 8 pm. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, Burial will be in Arkport Cemetery.
