Sanford, 72, of Valley View Court, Dansville, passed away Wednesday Oct. 6, 1993 in St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell, N.Y. following a long illness. Born in West Sparta on Nov. 20, 1920, he was the son of Neal and Ruth Milliman Sanford. On Sept. 4, 1942 he married Barbara Meyer who survives. He was employed as a truck driver for 35 years, he retired from Shay's Services Inc. of Dansville on April 1, 1991 after 13 years of service. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamster's No. 375 of Buffalo, the Daniel Goho Post of the American Legion and the Frank J. Casbolt VFW Post both of Dansville and the Dansville United Methodist Church. He was a very skilled hunter and fisherman. Surviving in addition to his wife, Barbara are two sons, Douglas Sanford of Dansville and Thomas Sanford of Flower Mound, Texas; two daughters, Dinah Belanger of Conesus and Susan Rodin of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a brother, James D. Sanford of Victor and nine grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Aleta Knapp. There will be no prior calling hours. A funeral service will be held Friday, Oct. 8, 1993 at 11 a.m. in the Dansville United Methodist Church with the Rev. G. Calvin Sheasley officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery in Ossian. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Dansville United Methodist Church, 5 Chestnut Ave. or the Dansville Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 235, both of Dansville, N.Y. 14437. Arrangements were by Hindle Funeral Home, 271 Main St., Dansville.
