- Clair J. Lander age 90, of Hillcrest Circle in Dansville, passed away early Monday morning August 21, 2000, at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.
He was born in the Town of Dansville, on March 29, 1910, a son of the late James and Dora Weber Lander. On Saturday August 19, Claire and his wife the former Carmel Perry celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. He was also predeceased by his brothers and sisters.
Clair was employed at the Foster Wheeler Energy Corp. of Dansville as the Night Foreman retiring in 1973 after over 40 years of service.
He was a 56 year member of the Dansville Presbyterian Church, a former board member and groundskeeper at the Dansville Fish and Game Club. He also enjoyed the Wednesday afternoon Pitch game at the club. Clair was a member of the Twenty-five Year Club at Foster Wheeler, and a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose # 1130 of Dansville.
Surviving in addition to his dear wife Carmel are his daughter Joy (Carl) Clauss of Wallingford, PA, his son Bruce (Margaret) Lander of Long Beach, CA. Three grandchildren Mark (Sarah) Clauss of Baltimore, Beth Clauss of Philadelphia and Andrew Lander of Long Beach. Several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Friday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the Hindle Funeral Home, 271 Main St., Dansville where services will be held at the completion of calling hours at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville.
In lieu of flowers friends may make memorial contributions to the Dansville Presbyterian Church, 3 School St., or the Dansville Fish & Game Club, PO Box 406 both of Dansville, NY 14437.
