  Notes	COHOCTON Edwin M. Saxton Jr., 92, passed away early Wednesday morning (June 16, 2010) at the Livingston County Healthcare Facility in Mt. Morris. Edwin was born May 25, 1918 in Wayland, the son of Edwin M. Sr. and Vernie (Marsh) Saxton. Edwin grew up in the Loon Lake area and also resided in both Hornell and Dansville for a year each, prior to moving to the Cohocton area where he resided for the majority of his life. Edwin and Mary Gotschall were married Aug. 31, 1940 in Dansville. Together they celebrated over 66 years of marriage prior to Mary passing away in June of 2007. His employment career spanned a couple of different areas including Foster Wheeler and being a substitute mail carrier. However, for over 50 years, he owned and operated Spring Valley Farms in Cohocton. He retired from farming in 1993. Edwin's hobbies were many as evidenced by his passion for camping, woodworking and metal working. He volunteered in many different organizations that included the Cohocton Valley 4H Club, the Republican Club, he was vice-president of the German Mutual Insurance Organization, a member of the town planning board and the chairman of the assessment review board. Edwin was an officer of the Zion Lutheran Church, of which he was a member since his baptism in 1948, along with being an active member of the Cohocton Fire Department for many years. He also was a school board member years ago. Edwin was pre-deceased by his parents and his wife, Mary Saxton. He is survived by his children; Charles (Mary Etta)Saxton of Cohocton, Stanley (Patti)Saxton of Paoli, Ind., and Joyce (Brian)Wheaton of Cohocton; her grandchildren, Sarah (Michael)Grammatico of Batavia, Julie Martin of Wayland, Stephen (Rhonda)Saxton of Arkport, Chris (Michelle)Apple of Salem, Ind., Carla Sue (Ian)McSpadden of Paoli, Ind., Matthew (Elizabeth)Wheaton of Northfield, Vt., and Ashley Wheaton of Watertown; his great-grandchildren, Christopher, Tommy, and Lucas Grammatico, Emily and Cole Saxton, Hannah Fairbrother, Jackson Wheaton and Ada McSpadden; his brother Austin (Laura)Saxton of Cohocton; along with several nieces and nephews. Edwin?s family and friends may call from 1-4 p.m. Saturday at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. His funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Pastor Gregory Huth will officiate. Interment and commital prayers will take place immediately following at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Cohocton. Contributions in Edwin M.
