  Notes	John E. "Cowboy" Schubmehl, age 65, passed away peacefully Tuesday March 24, 2015 at Corning Hospital. Cowboy was born June 24, 1949 in Wayland, a son of Glenn & Ruth (Lander) Schubmehl. He was a US Marine veteran of the Vietnam War serving from 1968 to 1974. He was a former sandblaster for TTA in Hornell. Cowboy was a past member of the Theodore Van Tassel American Legion Post # 402 in Wayland. He enjoyed collecting automobiles, especially his 1965 Ford Mustang; and he was a Harley Davidson fan, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. Cowboy is survived by his children, Jesse (Keri) Schubmehl and Lindsay (Jeremy) Kastenhuber; 6 grandchildren, Isaac, Lucas, Lydia, Aubrie, Kaylee & Thea; 2 sisters, Donna (Kevin) Ayers and Carol Coots; an aunt & uncle, Doris & Raymond Alger; several nieces, nephews, cousins and his cats, Smokey & Nugget. Friends may call 5-8 pm Friday at the Chamberlin – Baird Funeral Home, 73 Main St., Dansville, where funeral services will be held 11 am, Saturday, followed by a burial with full military honors at the Village Cemetery in Wayland.
